Introduction
UNKNOWN LAB is a research & development department newly established by THINKR in the studio reorganization announced on September 5, 2026. It is operated around PIEDPIPER, the general producer of KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO, and serves as an experimental ground for nurturing new businesses and projects.
In THINKR’s new studio architecture, UNKNOWN LAB forms the “RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT” division on its own, alongside “MUSIC & EXPERIENCE” (KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO / KYOKAI STUDIO / ALLT STUDIO) and “CREATIVE & ART” (QA STUDIO / PHASE STUDIO). As of September 2026, UNKNOWN LAB has no dedicated website of its own, and the details of its projects have not been made public.
Role and Positioning
An experimental ground for new businesses: As THINKR’s in-house R&D department, it handles the incubation, prototyping, and validation of new businesses and projects.
Led by PIEDPIPER: It is personally led by PIEDPIPER, the general producer of KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO, marking an extension of the founding producer’s focus toward the exploration of new domains.
